Transition to Practice

Learn how to provide a high-quality patient experience, inspire to be your best, and improve your confidence in excelling at managing different presentations with ease.

The Osteopathy undergraduate and Masters university program is an exceptionally detailed and comprehensive training program that prepares upcoming Osteopaths for a range of conditions they may encounter in private practice.

The program also equips upcoming Osteopaths with the kinds of assessment & screening tools, such as osteopathic, neurological, musculoskeletal, and non-invasive medical screens, so that an appropriate working diagnosis can be made.

Over the 4 or 5 year combined degree, an array of techniques that can help with a range of musculoskeletal conditions  are taught and these are further developed in the university teaching clinics where students also spend a number of years treating patients while under the supervision of a fully qualified Osteopath.

As holistic practitioners, Osteopathic students are also educated on a range of other lifestyle and external factors that can contribute or influence a musculoskeletal program or affect a working prognosis.

Osteopath students can only progress to private practice once they have completed their university studies and have satisfied the numerous (and very difficult) number of theory and practical exams. Osteopaths that finish uni are well equipped with all the practical skills required to be competent and professional Osteopaths.

The 'Transition-to-Practice' Masterclass & learning how to deliver  the 'Red Carpet' experience

During Kerry's time at Healthy Living Osteopathy, she is frequently contacted by current Osteopathic students, or new graduates, enquiring about particular areas that they feel they would like to improve on. It is great that students and new graduates feel free to reach out in order to improve themselves as Osteopaths. Kerry has in the past provided on-one-one training to cover a lot of these topics and the feedback received has been very positive.

Other fully qualified practitioners have also sought Kerry's assistance on improving their own practitioner-patient experience.

New graduates reaching out, students wanting to improve their patient-practitioner skills, other practitioners seeking advice on areas, and the feedback she receives from her own patients (as to what has influenced their satisfaction to previous manual therapy treatments) has motivated Kerry to develop a more 'formal' kind of training that encompasses all the necessary points to help new graduates be their best when they start in private practice!

Of course, not 'everything' can possibly be covered at University, so Kerry's Masterclasses help to 'bridge the gap' to some areas that current students and new graduates seem to have some difficulty with or would like to learn more about.

'Experience' cannot be 'taught', but Kerry's Masterclasses help expedite this learning experience so that practitioners have the confidence to manage a vast range of case presentations. The Masterclass also focuses on providing a high-quality patient experience also known as the 'red carpet experience'. Creating the most comfortable, enjoyable, and effective treatment to your patients and ensuring that patients 'see value' in your treatments is paramount to your practice.

"I learnt a lot and believe it will help me keep patients and give them the red carpet experience".

"Found helpful/interesting the segment on draping and ensuring patient comfort, informed consent during the consult, discussing value and providing value to patient with consultations, going through the client journey in a consultation, and the demeanor of the practitioners from start to finish".

"Kerry has a wealth of knowledge and covers a broad range of areas in her Masterclass that are not always covered at University. The information she provided will make a big difference to my management of patients and the patient experience. I highly recommend investing in this course".

"My main takings from today's session were to be honest throughout the consult, not to shy away from awkward situations, explain everything at the start so that the patient knows what to expect & to be confident with the delivery of your advice/suggestions".

"The content today was exactly what I hoped for and more. It was all about the patient-practitioner relationship. This is an area I've found difficult so the examples & suggestions were perfect!"

"I was very content with the delivery. I liked being able to sit back and listen for most of the day. I think it's good for students in their final year or if they are in the early stages of their career. Good solidification of ideas & concepts surrounding Osteo. Thanks for your time. Loved it!"
